Based on a suggestion from Bill about the colour version posted yesterday, have converted to B&W... interested in hearing your comments on which is better.

great textures and contrast
i guess the b&w makes it stand out by making it less generic

i'm usally of the opinion that colour always has more information than b&w and thus usually only loses out due to artistic reasons
yes, for some reasons, black and white is more artistic cos it touches our feelings more (probably because of the nostalgic and otherworldly moods it ellicits)

if this were a picture for a textbook on say...tree stumps, the colour would be more useful

also i have this hunch that if colour photography was still a recent discovery, it would lose out to b&w less often
